OpSim ideas for inner-Plane "mini survey" #525

It's becoming clear from the discussion at #lsst2016 that we need to propose a tractable number of OpSim runs including the inner plane, to help get beyond first-order differences in strategy.

Rather than deluge the OpSim proposals page with countably infinite ideas, let's use comments on this issue to gather the ideas first. We can then select a few to propose to the OpSim team.

Update: OpSim v4 expected in November.

Idea 1: Like astro_lsst_01_1004 (i.e. Wide-Fast-Deep extended to the inner plane) but not including the north spur of the galactic plane.

Idea 2: like astro_lsst_01_1004 but with half the exposures in u-band.

idea #3: implement deep drilling proposals in the Magellanic Clouds and/or at low Galactic latitudes.
