Neil McMahon proofed the text. His marked up versions of pages (PDFs) are attached here. There are 12. The task is to go through each file and apply the needed changes to the web book pages.

@ianalexmac For the methods page, Neil requested looking into different colors/shapes for the communities based on which ACEP energy region they are in. Take a look and let us know what you think.

Tagging for visibility @eldobbins @ianalexmac

I have made all copy edits that Neil suggested throughout the report. However, there are several data comments that we should explore:

  • Railbelt coal generation increased substantially from 2013 to 2014. We should investigate if this is coming from realized net generation increases, missing generators in the previous (2011-13) data, or a reporting change.
  • We should consider reviewing the changelog from Neil's most recent workbook edit and see if they address our concerns with the 2020-21 data. If they do, we should update the web book to include them.
  • There is a rumor that ISER produced 2013 Energy Statistics Workbooks but I'm having trouble tracking that down. It's possible they weren't published. If they were, we need to find it and edit our report timeline and historical report table.
  • There is an increase in net generation for the Rural Remote region from 2013 to 2014. Neil thinks this might be a change in reporting standards but a presentation by Steve Colt et al. (2023) highlighted this being gas natural gas generators in the BUECI, Deadhorse, and Nuiqsut. This could have been a reporting change but we will want to investigate further.

I found a significant amount of missing natural gas and coal generation for the rural remote region in #90

Railbelt coal generation smoothed out significantly in #71

I feel like we got as far as we can on this issue. @jikaczmarski should we make a new issue about the intension to look at the most recent workbook edit, or did that get done?

@eldobbins This is still an open issue to take a look into. There does appear to be quite a bit of improvements. However, this would be a pretty significant undertaking. The changelog doesn't include dates of records changed. I'd like to keep this open and I'll keep an eye on when I can implement.
