Carlos Allende Prieto has suggested that we adopt the HST CalSpec solar spectrum:

http://www.stsci.edu/instruments/observatory/cdbs/calspec.html

to replace the current data/sky/solarspec.txt. This came up in the context of the specsim scattered moon and twilight sky emission models. Quoting from Carlos:

The solar spectrum looks good, but I have compared it to the one adopted for reference in the
HST calspec collection and the latter shows less wiggles in the near infrared side (at ~ 700 nm).

I have not had a chance to look into this yet (and it does not seem urgent) but chime in if you have opinions or are interested in following up on this.

I don't think the FTS has much flux/SED information. The 1994 Kurucz et al. version was calibrated using the low-res. Neckel & Labs data.
