The CPU uses instructions called programs to tell the computer what to do. Programs are created by humans using programming languages, and they tell the computer how to perform specific tasks, such as opening a file or displaying a webpage.

Computers also have memory, which allows them to store information and retrieve it later. There are two main types of computer memory: RAM and storage. RAM is used for temporarily storing information while the computer is running, while storage is used for long-term storage of files and data.

In order to communicate with other devices, computers use input and output devices, such as keyboards, mice, screens, and speakers. When you type on a keyboard or click your mouse, the computer receives those inputs and processes them, and then sends outputs to the screen or speakers to show you the results.
