Currently, as in original script, it checks using document count in src/destination and ensuring that those are the same. This is unlikely to be useful to us in our application as we are fairly likely to have new documents added to destination during the reindex process. In the general case, not sure about resolving it as of yet - in our case, we can resolve it with custom checking code based on our read/write aliases and the date filtered one in the target index, but that's not broadly applicable as there's not necessarily going to be a date on documents in an ES index.
