Mesenchymal lymphoid tissue organizer cell
Synonyms (add reference(s), please)
mLTo cells [PMID:31201308]
Definition (free text, with reference(s), please. PubMed ID format is PMID:XXXXXX)
A mesenchymal cell located in the embryonic lymph node anlagen. This cell expresses lymphotoxin β receptor (LTβR) and vascular cell adhesion molecule (VCAM-1) and responds to signaling from lymphoid tissue inducer cells.
A mesenchymal lymphoid tissue organizer cell is capable of differentiating into various lymph node stromal cell subsets. This cell produces chemokines CCL19 and CCL21. This cell also expresses fibroblast activation protein-α (FAP) during early development[PMID:29435977][PMID:31201308].
Extended: Critical for lymph node development and organization. Interacts with lymphoid tissue inducer cells to initiate lymph node formation. Precursor to adult lymph node stromal cells including fibroblastic reticular cells, follicular dendritic cells, and marginal reticular cells. Activation and differentiation are dependent on LTβR signaling and NF-κB pathways. Contributes to the establishment of distinct microenvironments within developing lymph nodes[PMID:31201308][PMID:29435977].
