Penpot won't import the file I exported from figma with the penpot exporter plugin. It just gives me a Failed to fetch error and Some files containted invalid objects that have been removed. when I click continue.

Can you try with the latest version?

I still get the same error messages 😕 Does it automatically use the latest version every time I run the plugin or do I need to do something for it to update?

Hi there @odin-h. We're going to start working again in trying to solve the issues that are being reported and I've been looking at this one.

Is there any chance that you can provide us with the figma document in which you're encountering this error or a similar document with this issue?

Just with the exported .zip it's being difficult to see what the error is.

Thank you in advance.

Here you go https://www.figma.com/design/5rSTKwySWUlcbpPBJIghb5/Untitled?node-id=54-169
It's just one of the figma templates with some minor modifications, however I made the footer into a component and changed one of the icons from a vector into a path.

Hello again @odin-h. In this particular case this issue is happening because of how we have to export the images from Figma to Penpot due to some limitations we're currently having from Penpot.

To export an image we have to get the base64 code from Figma from each image to be able to import them to Penpot. This means that even if you have just 4 images, because they are repeated and assigned to multiple different fills, each one of them is being imported to penpot as separated images.

In this case, the layer Group 1 with multiple Hero Image, each Hero Image has 5 images per fill, so it means we're trying to import 5 images per Hero Image, which means 40 images for Group 1 in Web page and another 45 images for Group 1, 2, 3 in Mobil page.

Since Penpot currently handles the import in one single request, they can't handle it so you end up with a network error message.

We're currently in conversations with them to try and improve the export/import system so I'm keeping this issue open since we can try and solve it.

In the meantime you can try to export your design without the images and then reattach the images in the penpot design.
