Using https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.unl.edu%2F as a reference, the following is a list of ways that we might be able to improve page speed

gzip uploaded files (ex: www.unl.edu/sharecode/css/4.1.css, www.unl.edu/sharedcode/js/picturefill.min.js, www.unl.edu/…res/2016-move-in/icons/graduate-icon.svg)
minify some CMS js (ex: http://www.unl.edu/…VfcgVAixhmmB6Go8TUMPOiprA-2vkC-oWXARQ.js - I think this is CMS js))
minify HTML
explore http/2 - perhaps enable it on staging (top level site would also have to force https)

We turned on gzip for text/* a while back and then it was disabled for an unknown reason
