Agricultural Losses

Will Lehman edited this page Dec 30, 2020 · 2 revisions

Ag losses are provided through the crops package.

The geospatial distribution of crops across the United States is designed to come from the National Agricultural Statistical Survey Cropland Datalayer (NASS CDL) https://www.nass.usda.gov/Research_and_Science/Cropland/SARS1a.php

This data is combined with crop valuations, crop schedules for planting and harvesting, crop production cost functions, and crop damage functions.

The economic losses are generally designed to capture the expended capital and labor of the farmer that did not produce a marketable product due to the imposition of a natural hazard.
