Hi 👋, I'm Finn

A software engineer from Scotland who's passionate about Backend, DevOps and Cloud.

I am a curious engineer who enjoys learning new ways to tackle problems and how exciting new solutions work under the hood. I have professional experience running my own projects, refining stakeholder conversations into practical requirements and seeing the full software lifecycle out from inception to deployment and maintenance. Whilst I have frontend experience, I much prefer the backend and improving the deployment process. I am a strong advocate for best practises, always believing that time spent learning the best way to approach a solution will empower the development team whilst minimising technical debt.

My four years at University of Dundee has instilled in me a sense that software's main purpose is to empower its users in whatever the main functionality of the software is. To this end, I believe it to be engineers' responsibility to ensure software betters society and enables people and users in it. I am a keen (and novice) student of AI Ethics and the implications that both established technologies and emerging ones incur. I hope to work for organisations that reflect this as I always work best with a strong purpose behind my work.
